SONYA LENNON LAUNCHES CREATIVE COAST DONEGAL WEBSITE

One of the country’s leading fashion figures is reconnecting with her roots to help launch a new website that celebrates Donegal’s creative industries. Sonya Lennon – who is one half of Lennon Courtney womenswear – was born in Donegal, before moving to Dublin as a child. Next week, Sonya will join the team at Local Enterprise Office Donegal to give the keynote address at an online event to launch the newly revamped Creative Coast Donegal website www.creativecoastdonegal.ie

Ahead of the website launch, Michael Tunney, Head of Enterprise Donegal, said: “We are delighted to have a creative industry expert of Sonya’s calibre officially launch our new Creative Coast website. The Creative Coast was commissioned as part of an initiative arising from the Strategic Action Plan for Creative Entrepreneurship in Donegal. One of the main objectives within the plan was to create the right conditions in the county for creative entrepreneurs to flourish. Our ambition with the new Creative Coast website is to build a strong creative and digital economy in Donegal with businesses that are robust, confident, financially viable and collaboration-friendly, all impacting positively on the local economy in terms of job creation, while also being pro-active and competitive on an international stage.”

Adding to this Grace Korbel, Business Advisor with Donegal Local Enterprise Office, said: “The Creative Coast project is in a constant state of evolution; the new website marks the next phase of an exciting initiative that ensures continued growth and success for businesses in Donegal’s creative sectors. We hope the new website will become a hub for local creative entrepreneurs, and that it will help members grow and promote their work and business. Donegal has an abundance of talent working in music, animation, software, crafts and design and we believe there are many more areas where Donegal creatives can combine an entrepreneurial spirit with a creative vision. I would encourage anyone working in a creative industry in Donegal to sign up to the Creative Coast and get their business listed on the website.”

Sonya Lennon has over thirty years’ experience as a creative director, designer, and broadcaster. During the launch, Sonya will share her entrepreneurial story and the successes, failures, and learnings throughout her career, from growing her brand to harnessing the power of digital and e-commerce. This event is open to anyone working in the creative sector in Donegal and takes place on Wednesday, 22nd September via Zoom from 12pm – 1.30pm. Book on www.localenterprise.ie/donegal
